The vagina (from the Latin meaning literally "protector" or "shell") or the vagina is a tubular tract that connects the uterus to the outside of the body in mammals and marsupilia female, or to the cloaca in female birds, monotrem, and several species of reptiles. Insects and some invertebrate species also have a vagina, which is the final part of oviduct. The vagina is a means of reproduction in female mammals, like the penis in male mammals.
